Anna Maia Zaitseva

“Exploring the experience of Scottish landscape through expressive oil painting.”

Anna Maia Zaitseva (b. 1994) is a Scottish artist based in Edinburgh whose work explores landscape through colour, abstraction and atmosphere.

Inspired by time spent in mountainous and coastal environments, particularly the Scottish Highlands, her practice is informed by a close, physical relationship with the natural world. Working primarily in oils, she creates expressive paintings that explore the shifting qualities of light, weather and the experience of being within a landscape.

Anna holds an MA in History of Art from the University of Glasgow, an MLitt in Curatorial Practice from Glasgow School of Art, and has studied painting at Leith School of Art. She has also founded environmental arts campaigns and curated exhibitions across Scotland.
